Welcome to Trendy Money, I’m so glad you’re here!
Are you one of the 63% of Millennials with student loan debt? Are you one of the 67% of Millennials with less than $1,000 in their savings accounts? Do you sometimes wonder how you’re going to do it all: save for retirement, pay off debt, and still live an awesome life? Then you’re in the right place!
Financial Success on Your Terms
Trendy Money is all about financial success on your terms. What does that mean? It means saving for retirement – even if you don’t put away as much toward debt. It means paying down your debt – even if you save a little less for retirement. It means not feeling guilty that you’re not a “perfect Millennial.” It’s okay to spend money on things that make you happy, whether that’s a book, makeup, or travel to visit friends and family.
I’m passionate about spending money on things I care about – and to me, that’s family and friends. What does financial success mean to me? Cutting my expenses on things I don’t care about (like cable or trading in my 9-year-old car), managing my budget (fixed expenses versus variable expenses) and spending time with my loved ones.
What does financial success look like to you? For you, it might mean aggressively cutting back and saving to pay off debt. For others, it might look like saving for retirement and your future. It might look like both – you still want to go out with friends or your spouse to enjoy happy hour!
Giving You Tools to Succeed
At Trendy Money, I know what it feels like to graduate during a recession and be out with nothing – no job, a lot of debt, and a lot of pressure to “be productive, make money, be useful.” But don’t give up. We’re in this together, and we’re forging a path to personal finance success on our own terms.
On Trendy Money, you’ll find practical tools like free budget trackers, free or low-cost resources that help you earn money or pay off debt, and commonsense approaches to living a fun, meaningful life for yourself, with family and friends. Everything I cover here is something I’ve experienced personally – whether it’s a DIY bathroom remodel or debt repayment plans, I’ve tried it.
New posts typically come out on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and can be anything from a blog post, printable, or video! I also share a lot more about my life on Instagram here and random musings on Twitter here. You’ll find the latest posts if you follow me on Pinterest here.
